Whoopi Goldberg ‘MAD’ as Simone Biles turns down appearance on The View: ‘This is the WORST offer of my career’
Whoopi made sure to note that it was ‘okay to not be a fan of the movie’ but urged that the writer not judge the way people look when it comes to critiquing film.
She explained: ‘Just comment on the acting, and if you have a question, ask somebody. I’m sure you didn’t mean to be demeaning.’
Fellow The View panelist Sunny Hostin was surprised over body suit comment as Whoopi has been open about ‘health challenges’ that she had endured. The star responded by saying: ‘We will hope that she just didn’t know, and now she’ll know the next time you go to talk about somebody, you talk about them as an actor.
‘If you’re not sure if that’s them in there, don’t make blanket statements, because it makes you not sound like you know what you’re doing.’
The Daily Beast review has since been updated with an editor’s note which read: ‘This story has been updated to reflect that Whoopi Goldberg says she was not wearing a fat suit.’ Whoopi has been open about her weight struggles as back in July 2021, she responded to Valerie Bertinelli’s tearful detailing of her life-long struggle with weight loss while hitting back at a critic who body-shamed her online, saying the comment is ‘not f**king helpful.’
The Food Network host, now 62, opened up on her Instagram Stories on Thursday, explaining that she was going through her recipes online when she ‘made the mistake of reading the comments.’
‘Someone … decided to point out that I needed to lose weight,’ Bertinelli said, her voice filled with emotion as she spoke to the camera.
Days later, Whoopi appeared on The View and said: ‘I too am Valerie Bertinelli. I have the same issues.’
