NFL talk heats up as Chris Jones stands strong for Travis Kelce in social media heated discussion

Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones has launched an impassioned defence of Travis Kelce.

The 36-year-old sports star – who is engaged to Taylor Swift – recently received criticism from NFL analyst Mike Tannenbaum, who suggested that the Chiefs should look to move on from Travis.

Mike said on ESPN: “I would move on from Travis Kelce and let me tell you why. When you’re in the front office, you have to project what a player is going to do, not what they’ve done. I’ve made that mistake countless times in my career.

Travis Kelce is a first-ballot Hall of Famer. But when you watch him and make an honest, sober evaluation of his 2025 performance, clearly his best days are behind him. We talked about their lack of explosive plays.

“If I were Kansas City, I would make the right, albeit difficult, decision. Move on from Travis Kelce. Try to get younger, faster, more explosive at the tight end position.”

ESPN posted Mike’s comments on social media, prompting a strong reaction from Travis’ teammate.

Chris replied on X: “Shut up….. [shushing emoji] (sic)”

Meanwhile, Jason Kelce, Travis’ brother, recently urged his sibling to “step away from the game for a little bit” before making a decision about his future.

The sports star is rumoured to be contemplating retirement from the NFL, but Jason encouraged his sibling to take his time before making a firm decision.

Jason – who also enjoyed a hugely successful career in the NFL, before announcing his retirement in 2024 – said on Monday Night Football: “I’m curious too.

“In my opinion, to nail that decision, you’ve got to step away from the game for a little bit.”

Jason also encouraged his sibling to enjoy his last games of the season, before making a decision about his future.

Trump owes the Supreme Court an apology—to the Justices he smeared on Friday and the institution itself. He doubtless won’t offer one, but his rant in response to his tariff defeat at the Court was arguably the worst moment of his Presidency.

NEW: JD Vance flew to Rome to formally invite Pope Leo XIV to join America’s 250th anniversary celebration. The first American pope has declined — days after rejecting President Trump’s “Board of Peace” invitation. On July 4, he’ll be in Lampedusa, standing with migrants — not in Washington — drawing another stark line between the Trump-Vance White House and the Catholic Church under Leo.
